
ALPR — Automatic Licence Plate Recognition
Read every number plate at your gate automatically, match it to the trip you were expecting, and write the gate event straight into your warehouse system. No register, no typing, no argument about what time the vehicle arrived.
The gate is where your data goes wrong
Almost every warehouse and plant we visit records vehicle movement the same way: a security guard writes a number plate into a register, and somebody keys it into a system hours later. Everything downstream inherits that error — turnaround time, detention claims, vehicle traceability, driver compliance.
ALPR removes the keyboard from the gate. A camera reads the plate, the system matches it against the trip or indent it was expecting, and the event is recorded the moment it happens, with a photograph attached.

What the solution does
Multi-lane capture
One controller handles several lanes and directions. Entry and exit are separate events, so the turnaround clock starts and stops on its own.
Day and night reading
IR illumination and exposure profiles tuned per lane, so a plate reads at 2am in the rain as well as it does at noon.
Indian plate formats
Trained on Indian series including HSRP, state-code layouts, two-line commercial plates and the mud-and-repaint reality of a steel corridor.
Whitelist and blacklist
Approved transporter fleets pass automatically. Blocked or blacklisted vehicles raise an alert at the gate instead of after the fact.
Barrier and display integration
Dry-contact or relay output to boom barriers, with a lane display telling the driver where to go.
Turnaround measurement
Because entry and exit are machine-stamped, TAT and detention become measured facts rather than negotiated ones.
Exception queue
Unreadable or unexpected plates go to a supervisor screen with the photograph, for a one-tap correction. Nothing is silently dropped.
Writes to your system
Gate events post into your WMS, TMS or ERP through REST or a staging table, so no parallel register survives.
Weighbridge tie-in
Pair the plate read with the weighbridge ticket so gross, tare and net attach to the right vehicle automatically.
What a site needs
- Camera per lane — ANPR-grade IP camera with IR, mounted 4–6 m from the plate at a shallow angle.
- Trigger — free-flow video trigger, or a loop or sensor where traffic is heavy.
- Edge or server processing — a small on-site appliance, or your existing VM if the network allows.
- Network to the application — the event payload is tiny; only images need bandwidth.
- Barrier interface — optional, where you want unattended access control.
- Lighting review — the single most common cause of poor read rates, and the cheapest to fix.
